Yvette AuenPink Turtle Designs featuring Wood Designs by Artists Bud Auen,Yvette AuenHistory of our development My husband and I, through lack of money for furniture and not wanting to buy cheap flimsy wood furniture, started making our own. We opened the House of Resin in San Diego, Calif. in the 70's. We made furniture for individuals, resturants and bars. We learned about different woods and how the resin would react. We did inlays with multitudes of items; inlcuding hundred year old newspapers. Later in 1987 we retired and bought a farm in Alton, Mo. and started raising cattle. After eight years we decided to go back to work. My husband and I got jobs in a nursing home. We want to do something special for the residents that ate in the dining room. We came up with the idea of making different seasonal center pieces for the tables. A lot of people that saw these pieces wanted to buy them. We started making many more and had the residents take part and paint or stain them. A few years later we moved to West Plains and built a wood shop that was comfortable and well equipped with Grizzly woodworking machines and Delta tools. We make a variety of wood products now. We try to only use local woods - oak, red oak, cedar, maple, walnut, pine and hickory. We make rolling pins, bowls, cutting boards, bread boards, napkin holders and so much more. We have now partnered up with two other artists and opened up Arcadian Arts, etc. in West Plains, Mo. We are all local Artists and enjoying all our creations and our customers at our store.
